Slicing Techniques:
If you can stand it, wait just 5 minutes before slicing
your fresh-baked bagel. You will notice that the knife
cuts through more easily and the inside of the bagel doesn't
"pill" up.
Can't
wait?
Run cold water over a serrated-edged knife; slice the
bagel with a sawing motion, but make sure you don't force
it. You can even use this technique with other fresh baked, hot-out-of-the-oven
breads, and pastries!
Cover up the hole - You're favorite sandwich is
healthy homemade tuna or chicken salad. Will it fall through
the hole of your bake 'mmm bagel? Not if you cover it
up with a leaf of lettuce, spinach, radicchio, or basil-whatever
yummy edible leafy things you have in your refrigerator
or out in your garden!
Cutting your "Dagwood Bumstead" bake 'mmm
bagel sandwich in half - So, you've prepared this
fabulous mouth-watering sandwich, piled high with healthy
greens and tomatoes. What's the easiest way to cut it?
Before placing the bagel top on the sandwich, use a serrated
knife to divide the top of the bagel in half. Place the
two halves on the sandwich, then use the serrated knife
to divide the remainder of the sandwich. This keeps the
bagel sandwich from squishing while attempting to cut
through the whole bake 'mmm bagel sandwich.
